A proposal for a 3-day trip to Rome with the Vueling line

This is our offer of a 3-day trip to the “eternal city” of Rome with the Spanish lines Vueling. Below we present a short plan (flight, hotel, what is worth visiting) of the tours to suggest how to make the best use of our 3 days in Rome.

Arrival and first tour

When going to Rome, it’s best to book your morning flight for such a short time to make the most of the first day of our stay in Italy. From Spain to Rome we will fly from Barcelona and Madrid airports. Importantly, on this route we have several connections a day. As for the transfer, from Rome Fiumicino airport to the city center we will arrive by Leonardo Express train (20-30 minutes to Termini station), taxi or bus.
If you want to have good access to transport and a good base, you should book a hotel in the city center. I propose Hotel Artemide 4*, located near Termini station, offering comfortable conditions, proximity to tourist attractions and great communication. Prices per night vary between 150-200 EUR per night (depending on availability).

Tour plan day 1

We can start our tour of Rome from the Colosseum – one of the most famous monuments of Rome, and then go to the Forum Romanum – a complex of ruins that were the heart of ancient Rome. It is worth visiting this place with a guide or an audio guide to better understand the importance of individual places. Being near the Colosseum, it is worth going to the Palatine Hill, from which there is a beautiful view of the Forum Romanum and the Colosseum.
After a rest and dinner in one of the Italian restaurants, we can go for a walk to the Trevi Fountain, probably well-known to everyone, and throw a coin luckily to ensure a return to Rome.

Tour plan day 2 – Vatican City and surroundings

On the second day, we suggest you go to the Vatican and then visit the attractions nearby. The first point on our map will be the Basilica of St. Anthony. St. Peter’s Church in the Vatican, the largest Christian temple in the world. While in the Vatican, visit the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. Then walking along the promenade, you will reach St. Michael’s Castle, which was a former fortress and papal palace. Other places on our map are: Piazza Nova – one of the most beautiful squares in Rome, known for its Baroque fountains, including Bernini’s Fountain of Four Rivers – and Pantheon, Temple of all the gods, one of the best preserved monuments of ancient Rome. The interior makes a huge impression, especially the dome with a diameter of 43 meters.
After a day of sightseeing, it is worth going for a dinner to one of the traditional Roman restaurants in the Trastevere district. It is a picturesque and vibrant district, known for its narrow cobbled streets and excellent restaurants serving local specialties such as pasta cacio e pepe or saltimbocca alla romana.

Tour schedule day 3:

On the third day, we can go to Villa Borghese and Galleria Borghese, a large park in the heart of Rome, and then go to the Spanish Stairs leading to the church Trinità dei Monti. Before departure, we can visit the Testaccio district, which is known for excellent markets and real Roman cuisine.

Evening return to the airport and departure
After the tour is over, we will be transferred to Fiumicino airport and return from Vueling to Barcelona. Depending on the flight time, you can take advantage of the evening transfer to arrive on time.
